Dallas, TX (January 25, 2025) – In celebration of Black History Month, Trenette Wilson
(“Lady Trenette”), a social historian and host of the Royal, Black, and Elite YouTube channel, which boasts over 14,000 subscribers and one million views, has announced a Titanic-themed dinner honoring Joseph Philippe Lermercier Laroche, the sole black individual who perished on the Titanic on April 15, 1912. This historical dinner will take place in Dallas, Texas, on February 22, 2025, and is part of the yearlong Royal, Black, and Elite History tour featuring Wilson presenting a lecture and exhibit for schools, community organizations, and churches.
Guests can look forward to an exquisite eight-course meal featuring the last dishes served on the fateful luxury liner, accompanied by a dinner theater that highlights the lives of notable Black figures throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Attendees are encouraged to dress in period attire as they explore lesser-known aspects of Black elite history.
“One often-overlooked aspect of Black History is the narrative of Blacks who were part of royalty and elite society, both in America and globally. Period dramas like Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte on Netflix reflect this newly uncovered history. Joseph Laroche was an elite Black individual who tragically lost his life on the Titanic, yet his story remains largely unheard. I’m thrilled to shine a light on the numerous royal and elite Black individuals whose achievements have long been overshadowed,” said Wilson, the event organizer and bestselling author of the award-winning history book, Royal, Black, and Elite: A Tribute to Black Nobility.
“My aim in hosting this event is to guide history enthusiasts on a journey to discover their royal heritage, rooted in the lives of Black men and women who are often overlooked in Black History, yet paved the way for our modern rights,” Wilson elaborated.
